What is Alabama Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)?

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Program Requirements

For this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of Alabama. Pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 are eligible. They must be individually determined to be at "nutritional risk" by a health professional.

 

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $7,992 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.
