What is Alaska Unemployment Insurance?

Alaska's Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program is dedicated to providing temporary benefit payments to workers unemployed through no fault of their own. Unemployment benefits serve not only to bridge the economic gap for the worker, but also as a stabilizing influence on local economies.

Program Requirements

Eligibility for UI benefits is based upon wage credits earned during a base period from an employer that is subject to unemployment insurance laws. A base period is usually the first four out of five completed quarters prior to the quarter in which a claim for benefits is filed. For continuing eligibility, claimants must be able, available, and actively seeking full time work.
