What is Kansas HealthWave (SCHIP)?

Kancare (State Children Health Insurance Program) offers affordable, low-cost health insurance for the uninsured children of Kansas. Some low-income parents may also qualify for health coverage. Applicants are screened for Medicaid eligibility to determine the funding source. You may also be eligible for coverage of existing medical bills.

Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Kansas, under 19 years of age or be a primary care giver with a child under the age of 19, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), and a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent residen

 

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $10,026 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.
