What is Mississippi Weatherization Assistance Program?

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) funds are used to improve the conditions of eligible low-income clients' homes. The program is designed to reduce home heating and cooling costs by improving energy efficiency and ensuring health and safety. Priority is given to low-income elderly and disabled individuals.

To be eligible for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Mississippi. Preference may be given to:

  • People over 60 years of age
  • Families with one or more members with a disability
  • Families with children (in most states)

In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

Under DOE guidelines, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization assistance if you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
